It was a rare coincident that the Birth Day of the Founder of the Scout Movement, Lord Baden Powell, commonly known as BP’s day had fallen on a Wednesday. It was a special day of the year 2012 for the Gold Troop as the Senior Investiture too took place on this day.
Day’s programme kicked off with the Opening Rally at 2.00 pm where the Senior Investiture took place. This is a traditional ceremony where the Instructors of the previous year who ran the troop will be promoted to the post of Senior Instructors & the Senior Scouts Ishara Udayanga, Praveena Goonasekera, Ravindu Prasadith & Masha Gunasekera were appointed as Senior instructors at the ceremony. The Asst. Instructors Uditha Gamage, Harindu Abeywardena, Vinura Perera, Dewan Vidanage, Dushan Malavipathirana, Isuru Amantha & WJ Emalka were awarded their appeletes & were installed as Instructors for the coming year, whereas the Grade 11 scouts Nuwan Perera, Manusha Wewagedara, Lakshan Janz, Poorna Nilupul, Lakshitha Seneviratne, Deshan Chathuranga & Pubudu Panchana stepped out of the rally symbolizing them leaving the Junior Troop & joining the Senior Troop.
The rally was followed by the Uniform inspections and the special BP’s Day programme was held at the college Interactive White Board Room after Inspections. The Video on Baden Powell’s life, reading BP’s last message & Leader in Charge Mr. Supun Jayalath renewing the Scout Promise & his inspirational speech on Lord Baden Powell were the highlights of the programme.
After scouting activities concluded with the closing rally, the Patrol Leaders’ Council (PLC) and the Instructors’ Council (IC) were held, where the following appointments were made for the year 2012/13.
The following Instructors were appointed to the respective posts of the Instructors Council,

- Secretary/Asst. Senior Troop Leader – Harindu Abeywardena
- Badge Secretary – Janith Emalka
- Quarter Master – Isuru Siriwardena
- IT Director – Vinura Perera
- Junior Troop Coordinator – Dewan Vidanage
- Scout room in charge – Dushan Malavipathirana
The following junior scouts were appointed to the respective posts of the Patrol Leaders Council,
