The Royal College Old Scouts Association successfully conducted an Out-Bound Training Programme for a selected group of emerging leaders of the Gold Troop at the Out-Bound Training Facility at Wijeya Holiday Resort, Kiriella on 25th and 26th April 2015. The objective of this Programme was to reinforce the fundamentals of Scouting within the future leaders of the Scout Troop through a series of activities and thereby drive them practice those fundamentals in day to day scouting. A group of 20 Scouts including both the Senior and Junior Scouts participated at the Training Programme.

The Training Programme was conducted by the Corporate and Leadership Training Specialist, Major (Rtd) Ruvan Ranatunga who is a well know trainer attached to Wild Drift, a corporate training outfit. During the Programme, the Scouts participated in number of team building and challenging exercises under the guidance of Major (Rtd) Ruvan Ranatunga. The de-briefing sessions of Major (Rtd) Ranatunga gave Scouts the opportunity to reflect on their activities in a different dimension and to realise that they can perform better.

The two days activities programme is scheduled to be followed by an in-house de-briefing session where the Scouts would be encouraged to brainstorm on how to bring the Scout Troop forward.

This was the first time where the Scouts of the Gold Troop underwent an Out-Bound Training Programme under the guidance of a specialised trainer. The Scouts who participated at the event enjoyed the activities to its maximum. The Royal College Old Scouts Association believes that this Programme gave the opportunity to identify a few scouts of potential who need to be groomed as the future Scout Leaders of the Scout Troop so that sustainability of the Troop is ensured to a greater extent.
The Royal College Old Scouts Association extends its special thanks to Major (Rtd) Ruvan Ranatunga who volunteered to assist us on this, Scout Buddhika Dissanayake, Scout Asiri Indushika, Dr.Tharaka Ranasinghe, Scout Batches of 2003,2005 and 2006 for their generous contributions to make this event a success.

The Royal College Old Scouts Association also wishes to place on record its appreciation to Scout Wedisha Gankanda, Scout Isuru Nanayakkara, Scout Pasan Jayakody, Scout Pavitra Nandana who tirelessly worked on this Project days and nights make this event a reality.

We also wish to express our gratitude to Wijeya Holiday Resort for co-sponsoring this Project and for providing all the assistance to conduct this Project in a professional manner.
